For which tasks (responsibilities)?

• Collection, analysis and optimization of executed queries.

• Experiment with different storage types and database settings to improve the existing data storage scheme.

• Implementation of auxiliary functionality for database users, such as analytical and utility functions.

• Monitoring the general state of the database, setting up the necessary metrics for monitoring.

What kind of professional are we looking for?

• Deep understanding of the structure and architecture of PostgreSQL, knowledge of the functions of configuration parameters and the ability to optimize them for specific tasks.

• Knowledge of SQL implementation capabilities in PostgreSQL: window functions, CTE, types of joins, including LATERAL, etc. Ability to analyze execution plans. Query optimization skills.

• Data organization skills: creating a data schema, creating mappings, including materialized ones, creating indexes and advanced statistics on tables, partitioning. Understanding the difference in storage engines, columnar and row storage.

• Understanding of the principle of data sharding, ability to work with distributed data.

• Experience in creating auxiliary procedures and functions in PL/pgSQL Basic Linux administration skills.

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL supporting infrastructure: connection pools, setting up replication for High Availability, etc.
