VFX - Technical Artist - Part-Time Contract

For which tasks (responsibilities)?

As a part-time VFX Technical Artist at Titan AI, you will play a crucial role in shaping the VFX elements of our RPG currently in development, as well as maintaining consistency for all of its assets.

Your expertise in VFX and pixel art, combined with a broad range of artistic skills, will contribute to the development of engaging and bold experiences.

Key Tasks

• VFX Development and Implementation: Design, create, and integrate VFX assets into Hell Rush, our first mobile rogue-lite RPG game. Focus on enhancing visual aesthetics and supporting the action through special effects.

• Asset Optimization: Ensure that VFX assets are optimized for mobile platforms, maintaining high performance and visual quality within technical constraints.

• Collaboration and Iteration: Work closely with Lead Artist, CTO and engineers to iterate on VFX to match gameplay mechanics and artistic vision.

• Technical Troubleshooting: Solve technical issues related to VFX implementation and asset integration within the game engine.

• Quality Assurance: Maintain consistency and quality across all VFX assets, ensuring they align with the overall art style and performance standards.

• Documentation and Reporting: Document VFX processes and progress, providing updates and feedback in team meetings and reports.

What kind of professional are we looking for?

• Proven experience as a VFX / Technical Artist in the games industry with 5+ years of experience overall and 3+ years in a mobile environment.

• Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Unity VFX tooling such as Unity and familiarity with mobile game development. 

• Exceptional skills in pixel art with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of styles and projects.

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and solve issues related to VFX implementation.

• Optimization Skills: Experience with asset optimization for mobile platforms to ensure smooth gameplay without sacrificing visual quality.

• Communication: Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and articulate VFX concepts and technical challenges.

• Time Management: Since the role is part-time, effective time management and the ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines is crucial.

• Exceptional skills in pixel art with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of styles and projects.

• Knowledge of shaders is a plus, particularly experience with shader development and optimization in Unity, enabling the creation of high-performance visual effects that enhance the overall player experience.

This role is open to candidates globally located between the GMT+01:00 timezone (France/Spain) and GMT -08:00 timezone (US West Coast) with, ideally, a flexibility to work with +/- 4 hours of GMT -08:00 timezone (US West Coast).
